Welcome!
Pennine Sub Aqua Club is a not-for profit scuba diving club that provides training and club diving in a safe and friendly environment. We have been established for over 50 years in Calderdale and current operate from Todmorden Leisure centre. The club has a committee and all members have a voice / vote...this is your club.
The Club is associated to The Sub Aqua Association (SAA) in Liverpool (club number 702). We welcome divers at all levels from complete beginners to instructors and from any training association.

How to join us
If you are a complete beginner:
Why not start with a TRY DIVE. This is a one hour session so you can experience what it is like to ‘breath underwater’! Once you are ‘hooked’ then we can guide you through a safe and friendly training programme that will provide you with essential skills. Once you have completed your course you will be a qualified dive and able to join the club as a full member. Contact our Diving Office for details (contact number below).
If you are a qualified diver:
If you are already qualified with another dive centre / agency then we will need to see your qualification card / certificate. Whatever your current qualification, we can provide further training courses to suit, up to the level of PADI Instructor or equivalent.
Cost of membership:
Full adult member (16yrs +) - £15 per month single / £20 per month (1 adult + 1 under 16yrs) Under 16 yrs £12 per month.
The first month’s membership is payable by cash or cheque; thereafter membership is paid monthly by direct debit.
You can if you wish join the Club before becoming a qualified diver, but to use the pool with diving equipment, you must be under the supervision of a qualified diving instructor.

If you are a qualified diver
As a Member you can borrow the club’s equipment if you don’t have your own - we have everything needed to practice your skills in the pool (equipment is subject to booking and availability).
Air
The Club has a number of tanks that you may borrow for pool sessions (subject to availability), but please note, there is a charge of £4 per session, payable to our Diving Officer, to cover the cost of refilling. Never return tanks to the store cupboard with less than 100 bar remaining - such tanks must go to the Diving Officer for refilling.
Insurance
If you’re not on currently on a training course, you may only use diving equipment in the pool (your own or Club equipment) if you have a minimum of third party liability insurance, for example through the SAA, DAN, Divemaster or similar. This applies to guests as well as Members. Members are responsible for their own third-party liability insurance to cover damage to the pool (and other pool users). The cheapest policy that we are aware of, that meets these requirements, is the Divemaster Sport Diver Liability Insurance, £21.50 at time of writing.

Pool evenings
The Club hires Todmorden swimming pool on Wednesday evenings, from 20.00 - 21.00, during which time the moveable floor is lowered to a 3m depth. The whole of the pool is for the exclusive use of the Club during that time; how you use the time is up to you if you are not undergoing training, whether you use dive kit or simply swim.
Any diving kit (tanks excepted) should be thoroughly washed in the showers at the end of a pool session, as chlorine has a corrosive effect on kit.
The pool supplies a lifeguard for these sessions, and the Club has a Rota of more experienced Members for poolside duties, which include keeping the Register of attendance, including insurance details of each Member and Guest. The Rota duties also include assisting the Member to pick up Club kit and an air tank if required, and to collect money if appropriate. The Club Pool Register is kept in locker 200, key held by the pool reception. At your first visit, by all means talk to the Rota person about the Club and it’s facilities. If you need kit, please arrive at least 20 minutes early (19:40) to allow time for collection.
A single guest may accompany a Cub Member for no fee, though we would expect any guest attending on a regular basis to be encouraged to join the Club!
Additional guests will incur a pool session fee of £5, payable to the poolside Rota person.

Club Organisation

The Club is a voluntary organisation.
It is run by a committee.
Full Membership meetings are held quarterly.
An AGM is usually held in January each year.
Committee meetings are ad-hoc as required.
